Libyan Steel Fabrication Plant Improves Welding Precision by 20% Using High-Flatness Hot Rolled Coils**

Many Libyan steel fabrication companies share the same challenge: locally available hot rolled coils often suffer from poor surface quality, thickness variation, and deformation during cutting. These issues negatively affect welding accuracy and equipment frame alignment, leading to high rework rates and inconsistent product quality.

A mid-sized fabrication plant approached us while searching for a more stable raw material to improve production efficiency. After reviewing their equipment setup and project requirements, we supplied 4×40HQ containers of Hot Rolled Steel Coil/Sheet, covering 1.0–8.0 mm thickness and widths 1000 / 1250 / 1500 mm, with custom-cut sheets tailored to their laser cutting machines.

The HR materials feature high flatness, uniform mechanical properties, and low deformation after cutting. These coils were used for:

  • Heavy-duty machinery frames

  • Warehouse steel beams

  • Equipment base structures

  • Welded box components

During trial processing, the customer observed significantly reduced plate distortion during laser cutting. Welding joints were smoother, cleaner, and more consistent. The plant reported a 20–22% improvement in dimensional accuracy and a notable reduction in rework.

The customer described this batch as “the most stable hot rolled steel we have used in recent years,” helping them secure new industrial projects and improve delivery timelines.
